About 13 years ago, J.R. Rodriguez started writing. He needed another obsession since he quit drinking. His first film, Remember Yesterday was the winner of the Florence International Romance Festival and since, he started working on what has become a semi biographical story of aging and life after realizing, your chosen family is much closer than your natural family. J.R. has written 6 feature films and 3 series pilots, including A New York Christmas Story and PROPHETS. J.R. lives and writes about his hometown of Wilmington, NC.

With a combined lifetime in the film and theatre world, our producers gain energy from different walks of life.Jerry Winsett with a lifetime as a SAG/AFTRA Member (And a SAG Award). Amy Lynn Church with experience not only in front of the camera but behind it, spending years with One Tree Hill and the young one, Abrielle Cincotti, keeping the old folks up to date on the groovy workings of the young audience.

Wilmington, NC and Southeastern North Carolina has a long history of film production, starting in the 1980’s when Dino De Laurentiis brought his project, Firestarter, starring a young Drew Barrymore. Since that time, Wilmington has produced not only studio films, but also major independent films such as Uncle Frank, Stateside and recently released Eric LaRue.

The incredible infrastructure of the film business as well as the film community in Wilmington also makes it a hot bed for television and streaming series including Dawson’s Creek, One Tree Hill, Under The Dome and the coming of age hit, The Summer I Turned Pretty, among many others.
GEN X
It is no secret, this story centers around the 50’s and 60’s year olds. It is widely known that GEN X is the bridge between The Boomers and Millennials and GEN Z. GEN X is also the demographic that uses both traditional TV as well as Streaming Services, where the other demographics typically choose one or the other. The GEN X demographics lean heavily on popular services like Netflix, Prime Video as well as APPLE TV.
With a demographic that’s also twice as likely to use social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter & Instagram daily, the marketing potential with this demographic is huge. The success of comedy Television/Streaming increased viewer engagement results due to savvy word-of-mouth marketing campaigns. The Producers of A Touch of Grey are keen to replicate this. And with many different aspects of A Touch of Grey being appealing to this diverse demographic, whether it’s the noble character struggles, message of faith, or comedic moments there is plenty of potential for A Touch of Grey to strike a chord with this audience group.

Dramatic Comedy Fans
The Dramatic Comedy has a proven track record with audiences. Dealing with the human experience, the dramatic comedy is relatable to many demographics. A Touch of Grey was written with characters that have appeal to not just the GEN X generation, but also teenagers and seniors. The purpose is to tell a story where the world is inclusive and everyone’s point of view matters.
Although the term Dramatic Comedy is not designated as a specific genre, the proof of these hybrid shows are widely recognized. Ted Lasso, Sex Education, Atypical, and the Award winning somebody Somewhere are examples that combining uncomfortable situations with comedy are not only accepted, but successful. A Touch of Grey does this from the experiences of a group of adults that, in any given situation, they have a choice. The question becomes do they act like adults and handle the situation with maturity or revert to their childish ways.
